Closing the gap

The Victorians knew how to decorate for Christmas.Departing a “position,” even one of only 18 months, leaves a bit of a hole in the swamp of one’s existence … both financially and socially. As luck might have it, though, work requests from my freelance clients already have compensated for the loss of the first month of regular income. Good enough for now.

Interestingly, I seem to be entering a period of heightened social interaction, as well. This isn’t something I could have predicted, but now that I’m in the midst of it, I’m going to attribute it to my own increased availability and a huge decrease in job-related stress/distraction. An almost complete elimination of it, in fact. More good signs: Yesterday I bought groceries and cooked for the first time in months … an apple pie and a pot of chicken bog. Now I’m thinking it might be nice to find a little Christmas tree in a month or so. O Tannenbaum.
