Cuteness

Here's Toot, or maybe Puddle, happily brushing his teeth. He's about five inches tall and made of hand-painted resin. And he's insanely cute.

If, as I was up until very recently, you are unaware of Holly Hobbie’s Toot ‘n Puddle series of children’s books, shame on you. They’re ridiculously charming. Toot and Puddle are pigs, you see, and pigs are pretty darn cute to begin with, but Hobbie’s text and illustrations are the very definition of childhood. In a good way.

I rewarded the friend who introduced me to the series with a tiny and meticulously hand-painted resin figurine of Toot – or maybe it’s Puddle – brushing his teeth. The figurines were discontinued 10 years ago and are hard to find, especially new-in-box. This is how collector’s madness sets in, though, so I need to stop rejoicing in the silly thing. Because it’s so cuuuuuute!!
