They live

Seen any skull-faced monsters lately? How would you know?
Seen any skull-faced monsters lately? How would you know?

In “They Live”, director John Carpenter describes a world overrun by aliens very convincingly disguised as human beings. Then a drifter named Nada finds a pair of sunglasses that allows him to see through the disguise. He’s horrified to discover that every other passerby is, in reality, a skull-faced monster from outer space.

Yikes, huh?

Almost as scary as what you’ll get to see the day criminal charges are filed against you. Thanks to the glacial pace of our legal system, a cohort of mine has had nearly two years out on bail while awaiting trial to discover that many of the people he thought were his independently thinking friends are … well …not skull-faced monsters exactly, but … what planet are you from, anyway?
