The 33%
Writing in yesterday’s edition ofThe New York Times, Jenna Wortham sought to explain why only two out of three Americans are on Facebook. The “resisters” — that 33% of Americans who aren’t on Facebook — offer various reasons for their misanthropy. Privacy concerns, etc. But Wortham’s take on the phenomenon is that, barring some real or imagined difficulty, the normal, natural thing for every human being 18 and over to do is join Facebook. I am, like, sooo not a member of the human race.
The January 2012 issue of fête will feature the cover of Fasting Company Quarterly, together with an embedded video (previewed at right) of your humble servant deconstructing his recent juice fast. I exaggerate for emphasis and entertainment, but there’s more than a grain of sincerity in the cheek whereat my tongue is lodged. It’s also the first videoblog I’ve done with my new three-light studio setup. Soon, I hope to have an actual camcorder. A serious one.
For what it’s worth, I recommend highly both Hugo and Puss in Boots. It’s rare that two movies that I want to see are playing in theaters at the same time.
