Dream Logic Productions
Yesterday I registered DreamLogicProductions.com and set it to forward traffic to my video production portfolio. Maybe I should forward it to my YouTube channel instead. What comes next is anybody’s guess. A new site. A subsidiary. Both. Neither.
Arguably, an entity of some kind came into existence when I rendered this video on November 18, 2012, but if it did, there was no premeditation involved. I’d been investing in professional hardware and software for about a year at that point and was, as I am now, keeping a light hand on the tiller. Letting the chips fall where they may.
To date, my upgrade from webcam and table lamp to camcorder and softbox (etc. etc.) has returned about one dollar for every two dollars spent, and while it’s conceivable that I’ll break even this year, doing so isn’t a priority. As I’ve said before, I’m quite sure that money is at least the fertilizer if not the very root of all evil.
Whence cometh this impulse to brand, incorporate, market and turn a profit? I do wonder. Going through the motions of hawking my creative wares feels as unnatural to me as it does necessary. I’m like the man in the white suit who, marveling at the motion of his own hand and elbow, asks nobody in particular, “How do I work this?”
