Cat opera

I’m doing whatever  and glance up to see that my cat is staring at me with a wide-eyed, unblinking stare that makes me wonder …

Did I just grow a second head or something?

Then, abruptly, she loses interest. A sudden movement in the near distance or a highly localized grooming emergency and I’m forgotten. So forgotten that she’s falling asleep. Until she senses that I’m about to sneeze, in which case she’s gone so quickly that it startles the sneeze right out of me.

In the Cat World, Wagner’s grandest opera has a running time of only about 15 seconds.
