Seven degrees
Greenville’s brush with the rogue “polar vortex” last night didn’t produce the minus-50 windchill that some parts of the country enjoyed, but it was plenty cold just the same. Seven degrees actual.
So the heat pump, which normally stays off, is staying on for a few days and the car, which normally stays parked, is being driven. Is it naive of me to assume that all the residents of Tent City, who don’t have heat pumps or cars, are being taken care of? I saw but didn’t click a news brief this morning about a dog that someone had left to die in a snow-blown cage on the side of a road somewhere. Up north, I think. Not encouraging.
