Following the money?

In light of recent headlines about allegations against Greenville-based CertusBank of  fraud and “other violations,” not to mention the Circuit Court order that Charlotte-based Integrated Capital Strategies hand over documents allegedly pertaining to the case, I must assume the worst about what I saw happening at the Augusta Road branch this morning.

I’d crossed the street to take a photo of the proceedings, shown here, when a car slowed down and the driver shouted with a laugh, “They flushed it down the goddam toilet!” For those of you who don’t live in Greenville, that would be a reference to the tens of millions of investor dollars that Certus appears to have squandered during its brief existence, and as good a theory as any I’ve heard.
